Highly Cited Researchers recognised for global research influence

Professor Helena Teede AM has been named a 2025 Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate. Her academic papers are most often cited by other researchers around the world.

Professor Helena Teede AM , is one of the twenty eight Monash University researchers who have been named among the most influential in their fields, as part of Clarivate’s 2025 list of Highly Cited Researchers.

The annual list of Highly Cited Researchers acknowledges influential researchers across a broad range of disciplines whose academic papers are most often cited by other researchers around the world. When a researcher’s work has been consistently referenced by peers in their field, it makes an impact on the direction and progress of research worldwide.

Professor Helena Teede AM, Director of the Monash Centre for Health Research and Implementation, was named on the list for the first time this year, and said the honour is a reflection of Australia’s collegiate research environment.

“This reflects not only the calibre of the team who I have worked with and developed over decades, but also reflects the Australian research and funding environment that has evolved to focus more on engagement and impactful research which benefits the community and aligns to our work,” said Professor Teede.

“It is also important for me to acknowledge the role of the Monash Centre for Health Research and Implementation (MCHRI), a Partnership Centre across Monash Health and Monash University, with this partnership ultimately serving to generate important research questions, facilitate high-quality research, and enable translation back into practice for health benefits.”

Monash has maintained a strong presence on the yearly list of highly cited researchers, illustrating the university’s commitment to research excellence and impact.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Enterprise) and Senior Vice-President, Professor Robyn Ward AM, said the growing number of HiCi’s at Monash represent the university’s long-standing commitment to research excellence.

“Highly Cited researchers are synonymous with excellence. This year’s result, with 27 Monash researchers identified on the Clarivate list, continues a trend of growing our HiCi cohort, increasing from 23 in 2024 and 17 in 2023,” said Professor Ward.

“This speaks to both Monash’s growth and ambitions in the area of research excellence, and illustrates the world-leading impact of our brilliant research community.”
